What's Happening This Week: August 21

Inside: Spark Recap, Gym Floor, Next Steps Luncheon, and Atrium Ribbon Cutting

This past Sunday, First Baptist Thomson had the privilege of welcoming 619 people representing 95 different churches to our campus! To put that in perspective, the largest number of churches ever represented at a single SPARK conference is 104. What a joy it was to see so many of our neighbors and fellow churches gathered together for a day of encouragement, learning, and fellowship.

A day like this would not have been possible without the incredible members of our church family who served so faithfully. From prayer, parking and transportation, safety, food, technology, office support, registration, greeting, and room support—our volunteers stepped up wherever they were needed and served with joy.

Guests were welcomed with smiling faces, directed where they needed to go, fed incredibly well, cared for throughout the day, and shown the kind of hospitality that reflects the heart of our church family.

We are especially thankful for God’s provision throughout the day—from cooler-than-expected weather to safe travel and activities, plenty of food, and an amazing response from churches throughout our region.

Thank you, First Baptist Thomson, for serving so well! We are grateful for every person who prayed, prepared, served, welcomed, cooked, parked cars, moved tables, solved problems, cleaned up, and did countless other things—many of which no one ever saw.

What a beautiful picture of the Church serving the Church. And as we look ahead to the completion of our renewed spaces, we can’t help but think: just imagine how God will continue to use this campus for all generations!

The gym floor will be getting a much needed resurfacing beginning on Monday, August 24. We know for sure that the gym will be unavailable for the entire week next week. There is the potential that the gym will also be closed some the following week but we will keep you updated on that. As part of this, TeamKID will meet in the Warehouse on Wednesday. The Youth will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 PM and then go to Thomson Highschool to feed the football team after their practice.

Next Sunday, we will have a Next Steps Luncheon immediately following the Worship Service. This is a great time for our Guests and New Members to get information about our church, the staff, and ways to get involved.
