What's Happening at FBC September 29

Inside: Mission Georgia goal and a great weekend of Georgia Baptist events, Drive-Thru Nativity casting (yes, it's time), Young at Heart, Faith and Blue Weekend and more!

We had a wonderful weekend of ministry this past weekend! One Day Fun Day was a big success. We were able to welcome 4 families and over 20 kids! Thank you for your generosity to the Missions Georgia that allow us to do have events like these! And the Georgia Baptist Mission Board also helped us with our Sunday School Big Breakfast by sending us Brad Marchman with an infectious excitement for evangelism. Our prayer is that you took his words to heart and are already putting them into practice.

Speaking of Mission Georgia, we exceeded our offering goal this year! We had a goal of $3,500 and we raised $4,230! Thank you for your generosity!

Our next Young at Heart event will be October 11 at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $8 for lunch.

We are now casting for Drive-Thru Nativity. As you know, this event takes the help of so many people. If you are interested in Acting, Setup, Food, or Parking please contact Paige Boutwell to sign up. We will also have signups in the bulletin soon.

Phone: 706-699-2138

The weekend of October 7-9 is National Faith & Blue Weekend, a nationwide effort of community engagement by local police departments. The Thomson PD will be hosting events in churches that weekend, and they will wrap up the weekend here at First Baptist! Not only will they be joining us in our worship service, but they will also be hosting a community-wide cookout in our park after the morning service. We want all of our church members to stay for the cookout and connect with other community members who come, showing our support for all they do for our community!

The Women’s Ministry Team is offering a fall event on Saturday, October 29, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at noon. This half day event will include a time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study. Our speaker will be Chelsey Patat and her topic will be Is God Speaking to Me? based on the book by Lysa Terkeurst. Each participant will receive a copy of the book. This event is for women from youth through senior adults, and there is no cost.

We will also have Joe and Frances McCommon’s daughter tell us about her daughter’s experience as a missionary through the International Mission Board. To help support her work on the mission field, she works for a company that makes leather women’s handbags and there will be handbags available for you to buy. Start your Christmas shopping by buying a handbag and support missions at the same time.

Please register by October 23. You may call the church office (706-595-4252), sign-up on the Sunday Connection Card or sign-up on our website (available Friday afternoon). Nursery will be provided for 0-3. Please let us know if you need childcare for older children (and tell us ages).
