What's Happening at FBC September 15

Inside: New Deacons, Big Breakfast, Women's Conference, Back the Blue, and more!

Our new deacons for 2023-2025: Blake Allen, Sammy Doolittle, Bob Hughes, Paul Leroy, John Osborne, Philip Pirkle, Jay Poston, and Brad Smith. Please be in prayer for them as they step into their roles in January. Thank you to all of the men who agreed to serve!

Young at Heart is off to a great start this year! We had over 50 people in attendance Tuesday, and everyone had a great time. We hope you will join us in October!

Brad Marchman will be joining us Sunday, September 25. We will have a big breakfast together, evangelism training, and he will be preaching in worship that morning. We could all use a reminder and encouragement when it comes to sharing our faith. Plan to join us!

The most lost zip code. How does that sound to you? 30907 Martinez (Augusta) Georgia is the most lost zip code in the East Central region where 33,986 lost people call home. Yet there are only 7 Georgia Baptist churches within the zip code, and they have extended an invitation for us to help with a one-day mission trip called “Crossover Martinez.” If you might be interested in going on a one-morning mission trip to Martinez, please contact Matt Ward.

Sunday begins our week of prayer for Georgia Missions. Be sure to follow our Facebook for daily videos and updates. Our offering goal this year is $3,500.

The weekend of October 7-9 is National Faith & Blue Weekend, a nationwide effort of community engagement by local police departments. The Thomson PD will be hosting events in churches that weekend, and they will wrap up the weekend here at First Baptist! Not only will they be joining us in our worship service, but they will also be hosting a community-wide cookout in our park after the morning service. We want all of our church members to stay for the cookout and connect with other community members who come, showing our support for all they do for our community!

The Women’s Ministry Team is offering a fall event on Saturday, October 29, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at noon. This half day event will include a time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study. Our speaker will be Chelsey Patat and her topic will be Is God Speaking to Me? based on the book by Lysa Terkeurst. Each participant will receive a copy of the book. This event is for women from youth through senior adults, and there is no cost.

We will also have Joe and Frances McCommon’s daughter tell us about her daughter’s experience as a missionary through the International Mission Board. To help support her work on the mission field, she works for a company that makes leather women’s handbags and there will be handbags available for you to buy. Start your Christmas shopping by buying a handbag and support missions at the same time.

Please register by October 23. You may call the church office (706-595-4252), sign-up on the Sunday Connection Card or sign-up on our website (available Friday afternoon). Nursery will be provided for 0-3. Please let us know if you need childcare for older children (and tell us ages).
