What's Happening at FBC October 13

Inside: National Faith and Blue weekend, Preschool Sunday (and name tag Sunday), chili cook off, Manna donations, Upward registration, Christmas Ornaments, Drive-Thru Nativity and more...

Last Sunday we were able to celebrate with the Thomson Police Department as a part of the National Faith and Blue weekend. We welcomed officers to our service on Sunday and then enjoyed a cookout in the park after church. Thank you to those who stayed for the cookout (and thank you to those who helped setting up, grilling, and cleaning up!). Please continue to pray for all of our first responders as they serve our community.

This Sunday is our fall Cornerstone Preschool Sunday! You will want to be a part of worship this Sunday and hear these preschoolers sing. We are going to make this a "name tag Sunday" in order to help welcome our Cornerstone Preschool guests to worship. Please grab a name tag when you come in on Sunday.

Sunday, October 23 immediately following morning worship we will have a chili cook off and dessert auction fundraiser to help the youth with the cost of summer camp. The cost of lunch will be $8 for adults and $5 for kids. If you would be willing to bring a crockpot of chili, there will be a sign-up sheet in the Sunday school folders this week. You can also email Ben at btarver@fbcthomson.org. We also need people to bring desserts. We will have a silent dessert auction going on during lunch.

Manna has asked that our church collect 400 boxes of stuffing mix for their holiday bags. They need them by November 1. You can place these in the blue ministry bin in the atrium.

EARLY BIRD registration is now OPEN for FBC Thomson Upward Basketball 2022-2023. K5 - 5th grade. Find more info and register online at https://registration.upward.org/UPW82646

FBC Christmas Ornaments

Our kids (completed 1st-6th grade) are going to CentriKid this summer! (We will have more information about camp next week.) In order to help with the cost, we are going to be selling some beautiful Christmas Ornaments designed by Frankie Brown. Christmas ornaments will be $10 each and we will be able to keep $5 from every sale to help with the camp cost. Orders are due by November 6. Place your order in the atrium after church, by emailing Christy at ctarver@fbcthomson.org or calling the church office at 706-595-4252. We are so excited about these ornaments and hope that you will be too!

We are now casting for Drive-Thru Nativity. As you know, this event takes the help of so many people. If you are interested in Acting, Setup, Food, or Parking please contact Paige Boutwell to sign up. We will also have signups in the bulletin soon.

The Women’s Ministry Team is offering a fall event on Saturday, October 29, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at noon. This half day event will include a time of fellowship, worship, and Bible study. Our speaker will be Chelsey Patat and her topic will be Is God Speaking to Me? based on the book by Lysa Terkeurst. Each participant will receive a copy of the book. This event is for women from youth through senior adults, and there is no cost.

We will also have Joe and Frances McCommon’s daughter tell us about her daughter’s experience as a missionary through the International Mission Board. To help support her work on the mission field, she works for a company that makes leather women’s handbags and there will be handbags available for you to buy. Start your Christmas shopping by buying a handbag and support missions at the same time.

Please register by October 23. You may call the church office (706-595-4252), sign-up on the Sunday Connection Card or sign-up on our website (available Friday afternoon). Nursery will be provided for 0-3. Please let us know if you need childcare for older children (and tell us ages).
