New Years Resolutions, Round 2
Remember way back in late December of 2014? I know, it’s been a while! You probably were thinking about and making some New Year’s Resolutions. How’s that been working for ya? If you’re like me you probably laid off the cookies or Cokes for a while, tried to watch less TV or do a little more exercise. And if you’re like me, much of that has fallen by the wayside.
Well now we are in the season of Lent. And in a lot of ways, it kinda feels like New Year’s Resolutions round two, doesn’t it? You made a commitment to give up cookies or Cokes or watch a little less TV. And…how’s that been working for ya? Whatever commitments you have made for Lent (giving something up, or adding some things like times of prayer or Bible reading), I really do hope and pray that they have indeed been working for you.
But I feel like now is a great time to reflect on those commitments we as a church made as we started the New Year. Lent can be a great time to refresh those commitments, such as:

But I feel like now is a great time to reflect on those commitments we as a church made as we started the New Year. Lent can be a great time to refresh those commitments, such as:
- Making worship with your church family a priority on Sunday mornings.
- Following a plan of daily Bible reading and prayer as well as being a part of a small group Bible study/Sunday School class.
- Serving in at least one ongoing ministry or service opportunity.
- Giving faithfully and cheerfully through tithes and offerings.
- Sharing the Gospel with those you know who are lost or unchurched.
March to Easter! This week, don't forget that our emphasis is inviting family members to come to our Easter services!
Happening
Even though the church calendar is pretty full this week, it’s mainly committee meetings and other small-group events. Here are four things that we want everyone to know about:
- Saturday (3/8): Daylight Savings! Don’t forget to “Spring forward” when you go to bed!
- We Need More Greeters for Easter Week! David would like some more church members to volunteer for greeter service. But don’t be worried – he’s also offering Greeter Training on Sunday mornings (either 3/22 or 3/29) at 8:45 in the Sanctuary. All current and curious greeters are asked to attend one of these.
- Easter Lily Orders! It is time to submit orders for Easter lilies. Please use your Connection Card on Sunday morning to indicate your interest.
- We need help at the Easter Egg Hunt! This year, we are adding some extra fun to our hunt (crafts and games and music), but that means that we will need a little more help than usual. Are you interested in helping us? Just let us know by replying to this email or using the Connection Card on Sunday morning.
