One Hundred Years of Serving Together in the KBA
Stop and think for a moment. Ask yourself one simple question… “Why is the church here?” It doesn’t exist just to give us a place for fellowship, although we learn in Acts chapter 2 that strong fellowship was present even in that new first century church. It doesn’t exist just to give us a place to grow deeper in our walk with Christ, even though we should be growing deeper as a result of our time spent together in Bible study and worship. No, the reason we exist was given to us by our Lord. In Matthew 28:18-20 we find one instance of the Great Commission where God’s word says, “Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” And then His last words to His disciples before His ascension are found in Acts 1:8 where He said to them, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
There are lost people all around us that need to be reached. So, this weekend, while we are enjoying the fellowship at Trunk or Treat, and while we are enjoying the smiles of children, let’s remember that God has given us a purpose. Let us use this opportunity to interact with people who may not know Jesus in ways that will give us the opportunity to continue a conversation with them about placing their faith in Christ, because the fields are white unto harvest. Let’s go to work! All for His Glory, Mark
